CME in Maryland

First pass, 2026-08-13, four research lanes plus direct platform extraction.

Full coverage note — what was researched, and what the gaps are

MARYLAND HAS ITS OWN ACCREDITOR AND IT REACHES INTO DC: MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society, has been an ACCME Recognized Accreditor since 1985 and accredits 'organizations within the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia' — 18 of the state's 54 registrants plus one DC registrant (Mid-Atlantic Permanente, which is why Kaiser Mid-Atlantic is invisible in Maryland's registry). MedChi's own surfaces disagree about the count: a 48-name roster five-plus years stale, a current 22-name list, and 19 visible across both ACCME registries. THE REGISTRY HEADLINE IS BELTWAY-INFLATED, VIRGINIA'S SHAPE: 4,039 activities, but the top of the table is national societies headquartered in the Bethesda–Rockville corridor (urology, addiction medicine, blood banking, ultrasound, nutrition, gastroenterology ×2, pharmacists, genetics, infectious diseases…) plus a federal layer — Navy Medicine at 385, FDA, SSA, SAMHSA. The genuinely local top five: Johns Hopkins 479, Sheppard Pratt 217, UMD School of Medicine 133, Upper Chesapeake 100, and the state's malpractice mutual at 94, which is ACCME-accredited directly and sells its evening risk-management CME to any licensed physician with no insured gate. THE FEDERAL LAYER SPLITS CLEANLY: NIH Clinical Center Grand Rounds are free, weekly, Hopkins-accredited and explicitly open to clinicians outside NIH; the FDA's CE portal is suspended in its own words ('unable to process CE applications or CE credits at this time'). MOST MEDCHI-ACCREDITED HOSPITALS PUBLISH NOTHING: of 18, only five have a working public catalog. Frederick Health's absence is sitemap-proven, LifeBridge's education section is GME-only, Adventist and Meritus publish patient classes, three state psychiatric hospitals (111 combined activities) publish nothing at all, and the VA-affiliated Chesapeake Health Education Program's registry URL is a veteran-housing nonprofit. ZERO AMA PRA DESIGNATION STATEMENTS EXIST FOR ANY UPCOMING SOCIETY EVENT in this state — the only true designation found on a society surface was national ACEP's, on a past conference. Society credit is recorded unknown, never assumed. VENUE IS NOT AFFILIATION, AGGRESSIVELY: Hopkins runs conferences in Marco Island FL, Beaver Creek CO, Orlando and St. Petersburg FL (its All Children's Hospital), San Juan PR, and its own Bloomberg Center in WASHINGTON DC; the ACC chapter's flagship symposium is a five-jurisdiction consortium event (DE/DC/MD/PA/VA) at DC's Heart House, already seeded once under Virginia and NOT re-seeded here; and a DC children's hospital holds its annual community-pediatrics conference in Bethesda. Each row carries its venue's state. KNOWN GAPS, RESEARCHED AND ACCEPTED: Hopkins department grand rounds sit behind a Cloudflare wall on hopkinsmedicine.org and are unenumerated; Suburban Hospital and Howard County General publish no catalog; the MERCY namespace on cmetracker.net answered 503 for five hours and is unresolved; Navy Medicine's CME pages 403 and civilian eligibility is unverified; the Washington School of Psychiatry runs a ce-go tenant but which of two same-named entities is the MedChi provider is unresolved; the eye society's spring convention and the surgeons', plastic-surgeons' and anesthesiologists' next meetings are dates-TBA; and of the county-medical-society domains matching Maryland county names, TWO resolve to New York's MSSNY/MLMIC template host, one is a broken WordPress identifying no state and two do not resolve at all, so Maryland components are only ever credited via their own idiosyncratic domains (montgomerymedicine.org, bcmamed.org, bcmsdocs.org — apex only) or MedChi's roster.

UNKNOWN, not zero, and deliberately not assumed. The APA is ACCME-accredited and is DC's largest registrant at 808 activities, but this event's own page carries NO credit figure, NO AMA PRA Category 1 designation and NO accreditation statement — the full agenda is published and the credit section simply does not exist. Audience published as 'all individuals who are passionate about supporting, developing, and championing women leaders in medicine, including: Medical Students, Residents & Fellows, Practicing Physicians, Academic Faculty, Department & Division Leaders, Physician Executives, Health System Leaders, Researchers' — physicians throughout, with no nurse-practitioner or physician-assistant category, so neither is claimed.
